Gamifying Your Class: Why and How?

Language teachers have long used games, but gamification – the use of game elements in non-game settings – is a more recent concept in connecting with today’s learners 🙂
This workshop will give a brief overview of gamification, then help teachers identify and prepare ways to use gamification in their own classrooms.

• About the speaker:
Deborah Healey (Ph.D. Computers in Education, MA Linguistics, University of Oregon) has been teaching ESL/EFL for over 40 years and has given teacher training workshops on five continents. Now at the University of Oregon (UO), Dr. Healey spends a lot of time in teacher training online as part of the eLearning program. She is also co-developer and co-instructor of the UO’s first massive open online course (MOOC). Dr. Healey is currently on the TESOL Board of Directors.
